Breech Babies
If at 35 weeks pregnant your baby is in the breech position it is important that you see one of our acupuncturists (don’t worry if you don’t like needles - we use moxibustion so this treatment can be needle free). Many babies will turn after this date, but research has shown that 30% more will turn with this treatment. Don’t leave it too long; the later it goes the less room there is for turning.
Acupuncture treatment, once the baby has turned, is useful to encourage the baby to descend and reduce the risk of it turning back into the breech position.
It is worth noting that sitting on sofas and generally being inactive is thought to contribute to the increase in breech babies. Try sitting on a birthing ball and crawling around the room on all four to encourage the baby to turn.
