Menopause
Natural menopause normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 to 56. During this time a variety of symptoms can be expressed. The most common of these include hot flushes, night sweats and vaginal dryness, but insomnia, anxiety, and depression, are also common.
Conventional treatment is usually hormone replacement therapy. However, HRT is not for everyone and acupuncture can effectively reduce hot flushes, anxiety and depression and many other symptoms associated with the menopause.
A study by Grille et al (1989) suggests that acupuncture therapy has a similar effect on hormones circulating in the blood as HRT
